Since First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs has removed it's website, there is no other method by which to express my sincere disappointment in a church that would turn away any couple who can be legally married in the state for racial reasons. A minister of a church who would give in to the thinking of men and deny his Church and Godly ordained duties to those in need is a man who needs to turn his thoughts and prayers inward and consider whether he is fit to lead a congregation. I hope that Mr. Weatherford recognizes he is currently the instrument of Satan. This is not a church I would recommend attending until new leadership is found and the congregation learns to love one another as Jesus loves them.

The Southern Baptist Convention should be made aware of this. It is simply racism plain and outright. Maybe they should lose their designation as Baptist. Because the Baptist church I go to does not promote racism.

What happens when a minister cannot choose right from wrong, does the congregation suffer or the whole denomination?

"Hello, my Wife and I are Christians, and we frequently attend this church. In fact, we have family members that are employed here, and my wife's father is a member. We love to serve the Lord, and would really love to be married at our wonderful church. Oh, one more, minor detail, we are black."

"Well sir, I am sorry but I am a coward and refuse to marry people of another race here. Even though Jesus has taught me otherwise, I will not love thy neighbor...Sorry"

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
    Galatians 3:27-29 (NIV)

The church being reviewed here has chosen to ignore and defy teachings such as these. Their pastors refusal to marry a couple simply because of the color of their skin is in direct defiance of the Lords teachings. The pastor felt it was wrong but because he was afraid of losing his job, he chose to set aside his misgivings and bend to the wishes of his racist congregation.

So with this alone, I feel that the review should go like this.

The church feels that they are above the teachings and commandments of the Lord.

And the pastor is a coward without the leadership, strength, or conviction needed to lead his congregation into following the ways of the Lord.

So if you want to attend a church full of racist bigots who believe they are above Gods teachings, and you wish to be lead down the path to salvation by someone to afraid to stand up and actually LEAD, then by all means. choose this one.

    FOR SHAME!

  • It's absolutely GREAT that the First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs, MS. is maintaining the church's tradition. JUST CAUSE it's 2012, people think it's wrong to maintain the close-minded views of race. It's NOT a bad thing to maintain a tradition...in this case, NO (coloreds) married there since the church's founding.

***NOTE***If you are BLACK and live in the deep SOUTH...that's how things will ALWAYS be!! Deal with it, or LEAVE the south!! DUH!!***

My PRAISES to the pastor of that WONDERFUL church, for not caving in to the "public hype".
